Franz-Martin Schmölz

Franz-Martin Schmölz (born December 16, 1927 in Fischen im Allgäu , † February 12, 2003 in Salzburg ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and theologian .

Life

In 1944 he became a soldier in World War II. After graduating from secondary school in Kaufbeuren in 1947, he studied philosophy at the PTH in Dillingen from 1947 to 1948 and philosophy and theology at the Albertus Magnus Academy from 1949 to 1954 . After ordination in 1954, he studied theology at the Angelicum from 1954 to 1957 , 1955 bachelor's degree , 1956 lectorate and licentiate in theology, 1957 doctorate in theology. From 1958 to 1961 he studied at the political economy faculty of the University of Munich. From 1959 to 1961 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science in Munich (board member: Eric Voegelin ). From 1961 to 2003 he was head of the Institute for Political Science at the International Research Center for Basic Questions in Salzburg. On October 2, 1962 he became a university lecturer ( habilitation for philosophical social theory and legal philosophy). On May 14, 1965 he became associate professor for social philosophy and political theory at the Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg, of which Schmölz was one of the founding fathers. He retired on November 1, 1990 . He is buried in Pfronten .
