Franz Alfred Herzog

Franz Alfred Herzog (born March 24, 1880 in Sursee ; † June 17, 1962 in Lucerne , Catholic , resident in Beromünster ) was a Swiss Catholic theologian and writer .

Life

Franz Alfred Herzog was born on March 24, 1880 in Sursee as the son of the building contractor Jakob Herzog and Theresa born Felder. Herzog, who attended high schools in Sursee and Einsiedeln , began studying theology in Freiburg , Tübingen and Lucerne between 1900 and 1904 , which he completed in 1908 with the academic degree of Dr. theol. graduated in Freiburg.

After being ordained a priest in 1904, Franz Alfred Herzog initially worked as a religion teacher in Zug until 1908 and then at the Baldegg Institute until 1922. As a result, Herzog taught until 1949 as a professor of exegesis of the Old Testament at the theological faculty of the University of Lucerne. In addition, Franz Alfred Herzog worked as a canon at the St. Leodegar Abbey in the courtyard from 1931 and then from 1938 to 1955 as a provost .

Franz Alfred Herzog emerged as a religious writer and poet . He died on June 17, 1962 at the age of 82 in Lucerne.
