Franz Colleselli

Franz Colleselli (born January 16, 1922 in Absam ; † August 21, 1979 in Hall in Tirol ) was an Austrian folklorist .

Life

After attending the Franziskanergymnasium in Hall in Tirol , Colleselli studied history and art history at the University of Innsbruck and attended lectures by Nikolaus Grass , Hans Kramer and Hermann Wopfner . In 1949 he finished his studies with a dissertation on the history of Tyrol at the time of Ferdinand I from 1540 to 1552. This was followed by a job in the Tyrolean State Archives , and finally Josef Ringler brought him to the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum, of which he became director in 1959. In his publications, Colleselli mainly addressed areas of the traditional canon of folklore , in particular cribs and furniture .
