Franz Forster

Franz Seraph Forster (born May 25, 1896 in St. Florian , Upper Austria ; † May 20, 1993 there ) was an Austrian sculptor .

Life

Franz Forster first studied at the technical school in Hallstatt , then he moved to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna , where he completed his studies under Edmund von Hellmer and Josef Müllner . In 1924 he returned to his hometown of St. Florian and mainly made portrait busts and statues of saints from marble and wood. For the Linz Elisabethinen he created a statue of St. Elisabeth , also for Linz a monument to Bishop Rudolph Hittmair .
