Franz Heidler
Franz Heidler (born February 28, 1898 in Falkenau an der Eger ; † May 30, 1980 in Nuremberg ) was a German local researcher and writer as well as a folk song singer and collector . His cultural focus was the Egerland culture.
Life
Heidler, son of a plumber , did an apprenticeship in his father's business and was already involved in folk music as a singer. As a singer he appeared on the radio for the first time in 1928 , which also brought him to Dresden , Prague , Leipzig , Berlin , Munich , Wroclaw and Vienna . He accompanied himself on the guitar. During the Second World War he was taken prisoner and was released in 1946.
He then settled in Kirchehrenbach and was friends with Viktor Karell . In 1952 he went to Amberg and worked there for the city archive . In 1954 he was officially appointed "Volkstumspfleger" there. As a result, he collected around 3,000 songs and pieces of music from the region.
The Aufstieg-Verlag Munich published a long-playing record Lachendes Egerland with Franz Heidler, for which he was responsible as an author as well as a speaker, singer and guitarist.

Heidler has received several awards, for example:
- 1962: Sudeten German People's Prize
- 1964: Nordgau culture award of the city of Amberg in the category " Heimatpflege "
- Federal emblem of the Eghalanda Gmoin
- 1974: Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon
