Franz Hermann von Hermannsthal (born August 14, 1799 in Vienna ; † June 24, 1875 there ) was an Austrian administrative officer , poet and dramaturge .

Life

Hermann von Hermannsthal was the son of an Imperial and Royal Deputy Court Bookkeeper at the Court War Council and attended the University of Vienna . There he completed a law degree . During his studies he joined the Vienna fraternity in 1819 . After completing his studies, he entered the state service in the field of financial administration and around 1830 moved as a secretary to the Cameral Slope Administration in Ljubljana . He later returned to his hometown Vienna and became Ministerial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. There he goes to the section councilon. He was retired on October 27, 1864 .

Hermann von Hermannsthal devoted himself to poetry from an early age . He also devoted himself to the dramas and made his debut with The Blood Revenge (1831). Ziani and his bride (1847) and The Last Ravenswood (1860) arrived at the Hofburg Theater for performance and could among his contemporaries notable successes recorded. His poems also received praise in his time, but are now classified as mediocre.
