Franz "Wimmer" Hiller (born October 22, 1950 in Munich ) is a former German football player .

career

Hiller came from Phoenix Munich to the youth department of TSV 1860 Munich in 1966 and was a member of the 1968/69 DFB national youth team. With DFB coach Udo Lattek and teammates Rolf Rüssmann , Paul Breitner , Uli Hoeneß and Klaus Scheer , he took part in the UEFA tournament in the GDR in May 1969 . The young player, who mostly acts as a left wing runner, made the leap into the first team in the 1969/1970 season , with which he, however, immediately relegated to the regional league - the second-highest division at the time. Hiller made his debut on August 30, 1969 - he was substituted on for Rudolf Kölbl - in the 1: 3 away defeat against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Under the coaches Fritz Langner and his successor Franz Binder he played 18 games and scored two goals. In the three seasons 1970/71 to 1972/73 he took fourth place with the "lions" and third place twice. He was unable to return to the Bundesliga under coaches Hans Tilkowski and Elek Schwartz .

After the season 1972/1973 he moved to FC Elche in the Spanish Primera División . Hiller was used in almost every game of the season, but returned to Germany after a year and became a player at Werder Bremen , for which he played 162 games in six years. For the midfielder, the time in Bremen was marked by the ongoing battle against relegation, accompanied by permanent changes of coach. Hiller started under coach Josef Piontek in 1974, followed by trainers Herbert Burdenski , Otto Rehhagel , Hans Tilkowski , Fred Schulz , Wolfgang Weber and Fritz Langner in the next few years . In view of the impending second division after relegation in the 1979/1980 season , he left the club for FC Nordstern Basel . In 1983 he moved to the Calgary Mustangs in Canada before going back to Munich in 1984 and hired by SV Germering. There he played until 1985. From 1985 to 1997 at BSC Sendling-Munich 1918, in the 1997/98 season at Gartenstadt Trudering and from 1998 to 2001 at ESV Munich. At the age of 51, Franz Hiller ended his active career.
