Franz Inselkammer (brewer, 1902)

Franz Seraph Inselkammer (born December 19, 1902 in Siegertsbrunn ; † August 11, 1986 in Aying ) was a German entrepreneur and owner of the Aying brewery .

Life

Franz Inselkammer originally came from Siegertsbrunn. The Inselkammer family had been running a farm there for about 300 years, which was later followed by an inn and a sawmill. The inn at Gut Siegertsbrunn was founded in 1877 by Franz Inselkammer (1838–1895) and was continued from 1903 by his son Franz Severin (1865–1914), the father of Franz Seraph Inselkammer. It still exists today under the name of "Franz Inselkammer's Inn".

In 1932 Franz Inselkammer married Maria Kreszenz Zehentmair (1911–2001), the heiress of the Aying brewery . After the death of their father Zehentmair, the couple took over management of the company in 1936.

As a result, Franz Inselkammer bought the Platzl restaurant and theater near Munich's Hofbräuhaus in 1953 . In 1957 he had the world's first hydro-automatic brewing plant from the Steinecker company installed. In 1972 he built a new bottling plant on the outskirts of Aying, which is operated in cooperation with the Reutberg monastery brewery .

Honors

Franz Inselkammer was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit in 1982 for his lifetime achievement.

Inselkammer was awarded honorary citizenship by the municipality of Aying. A street on the new brewery premises is named after him.

Engagements

Together with the Mayor of Ayingen , Johann Mang, Inselkammer was one of the initiators of the Hofoldinger Forest Protection Association . The aim of the initiative was to prevent the construction of the new major Munich airport in the south of Munich.
