Franz Jauch (born January 22, 1807 in Altdorf ; † August 18, 1867 , entitled to live in the canton of Uri ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Jauch belongs to the Uri family Jauch . He studied law at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Munich and Würzburg and then worked as a state advocate from 1829 . During this time he also ran a brewery in Altdorf and from 1847 to 1854, together with Josef Lusser, ran a lithographic business with a book printer and a newspaper publisher . Ultimately he worked from 1852 to 1867 as a federal postman in Altdorf.

His political career began in 1847 when he was elected to the government. Jauch was the banner owner from 1848 to 1855 and the district administrator of Uri from 1856 to 1866 . He was also a judge at the federal court from 1848 to 1852 .

As an exposed opposition leader of the bourgeois-liberal movement of 1834, he was one of the most important opponents of the Sonderbund in Uri. Jauch himself experienced the Sonderbund War as a captain .
