After the war he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on March 6, 1768 and rose to captain and company commander in his regiment by mid-December 1773 . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . Then he became major on April 27, 1780 and on March 18, 1786 commander of the 2nd battalion. On December 30, 1786 he was given command of the grenadier battalion "von Ruits", which was formed from the grenadier companies of regiments No. 2 and No. 16 . In this position, promoted to lieutenant colonel on May 20, 1789 , Reinhardt received the Pour le Mérite on June 8, 1789 on the occasion of the review in Heiligenbeil . On August 11, 1790 he became a colonel and on June 6, 1791 regimental commander. This was followed on January 1, 1795, the appointment as major general . A little later, on May 19, 1795, Reinhardt became chief of the "Graf von Schwerin" infantry regiment . On May 20, 1802 he was promoted to lieutenant general.

But his health had suffered badly, so on October 23, 1806 he received his resignation with the award of the Great Red Eagle Order . In view of the approaching Fourth Coalition War with France, he was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Glogau on October 24, 1806. The fortress surrendered to the French on December 3, 1806 and Reinhardt was made inactive. On October 23, 1808 the court martial began against him for surrender. But before a verdict, he died unmarried on August 7, 1809 in Groß-Möringen.

The court martial came to the conclusion that the sick Reinhardt was overwhelmed. The judgment was on February 1, 1810 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (Prussia) confirmed, but had no more effects on Reinhardt.
