Franz Karl von Wendt

Franz Karl von Wendt (* 1675 ; † May 18, 1748 ) was a general from Hanover .

Life

Franz Karl was a member of the noble family of Wendt . He entered the military and served as an officer. In 1711 Wendt was in the rank of lieutenant colonel and in 1714 moved to the Reuter regiment " Saint-Laurent " as a colonel .

In 1716 he received the Dragoon Regiment No. 1 as the owner , advanced to brigadier in 1723, major general in 1732 and lieutenant general on January 17, 1735 . He became general in 1740, took the place of General du Pontpietin in 1743 and was replaced by General von Ilten in May 1745.

From 1716 to 1745 the Dragoon Regiment No. 1 carried the name "von Wendt". With his regiment he took part in the Great Northern War and was u. a. on March 6, 1719 involved in the battle near Walsmühlen under Lieutenant General von Bülow against the troops of Mecklenburg-Schwerin under Major General von Schwerin .
