Franz Nause (born February 15, 1903 in Achtum , † March 20, 1943 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a German social democratic resistance fighter .

Franz Nause attended elementary school in Lenthe and Linden and then completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith. In 1919 he joined the Socialist Workers 'Youth and the Factory Workers' Association , and in 1921 also the SPD . In the same year, from 1921 (until 1932), he was hired as a worker in the " Hannoversche Gummiwerke Excelsior ". In 1931 he joined the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold . His main area of ​​activity was in Limmer , where he was the district cashier of the SPD before 1933. In the same year he got engaged to Auguste Breitzke .

Socialist front

Franz Nause became the closest collaborator and confidante of Werner Blumenberg during the establishment of the social democratic resistance organization Sozialistische Front (SF) : While Blumenberg mainly wrote the Sozialistische Blätter (SB), Nause - together with Willy Wendt - was technical and organizational head of the SB, especially but mainly responsible for the production and distribution of the leaves. Nause was arrested for the first time in mid-June 1933, but released a few days later. On June 30, 1936, Nause was arrested again. The People's Court sentenced him on September 29, 1936 to 10 years in prison . In the Brandenburg-Görden prison , he is said to have died on March 20, 1943, allegedly of pulmonary and larynx tuberculosis.

Honors

  • An urn grave was laid out at the Ricklingen city cemetery as an honorary grave for Franz Nause (Department U43, No. 29)
  • The street that was laid out around 1900 as a garden path in Limmer was renamed Franz-Nause-Straße in 1950 .
  • On March 22, 2010, a stumbling block was laid in front of the house at Kesselstrasse 19 in Hanover .
