Franz Austria
Franz Oesterreich (* 1621 in Braunschweig , † 1697 in Lübeck ) was a German painter and engraver.
Life
Austria was active as a painter and engraver in Lübeck from 1664 to 1693. His widow married the painter Karl Krieg . The painter Catharina Elisabeth Oesterreich was his daughter and married the painter Paul Heinecken . The following works have come down to us from Austria:
- Revival of the dead bones by the prophet Ezekiel on the epitaph of councilor Gotthard Broemse , monographed and dated 1679, formerly burned in Lübeck's Marienkirche and during the air raid on Lübeck in 1942
- Penitential sermon of the prophet Nathan before David , large panel (3.88 × 2.97 m) with the coat of arms of Councilor Heinrich Balemann , signed and dated December 31, 1688, formerly in the Marienkirche in Lübeck and also burned in 1942
- Image of a Pietà on the altar in the village church of Thürkow
- View of the library in the Barefoot Monastery in Frankfurt am Main , engraved by Martin Hailler in 1679
- Engraving of a portrait of the theologian Meno Hanneken in black style based on his own template
