Franz Stadler

Franz Stadler (born October 8, 1913 at Gut Untermassing near Regensburg ; † March 2, 2000 in Munich ) was a German association functionary in the ADAC .

Stadler, who is the bearer of the Great Cross of Merit with Star and Shoulder Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as numerous other awards and medals, began volunteering at the ADAC after 1945. In 1949 he was elected 2nd chairman of the ADAC Südbayern in Munich, and in 1954 1st chairman. Since 1953 he was a member of the Presidium of Germany: from 1957 to 1964 he was treasurer and then vice-president. In 1972 he became president of the ADAC for 17 years until 1989. His successor was Otto Flimm , and he himself was made honorary president.

Stadler is one of the many fathers of air rescue in Germany . On his initiative, the first helicopter for air rescue , Christoph 1 , was used from 1970, on a trial basis since 1968/69 .

In 1984 he was an honorary starter in the Le Mans 24-hour race .
