Franz Xaver Zattler (born December 25, 1833 in Wurmannsquick , Lower Bavaria , † December 16, 1907 ) was a German church painter .

Franz Xaver Zattler's parents were Joseph Zattler (* 1798 in Neumarkt), master baker in Tißling and Anna Maria Gantenhammer * 1803 in Riebeseck near Egglkofen.

Zattler was a very busy church painter , in whose workshop in Wurmannsquick up to 25 journeymen and apprentices were temporarily active. His sphere of activity extended from Northern Italy to Bohemia , and from (today's) Austria to Württemberg and Switzerland ; Works in 81 churches are documented.

Zattler died of a stroke on December 16, 1907 on the way home from Altötting .

Zattler dealt almost exclusively with religious subjects; his oil paintings are in the style of the Nazarenes , so that Zattler is often referred to as the "Lower Bavarian Nazarenes".
