Franz von Niesewand

Franz von Niesewand (born September 12, 1832 in Cologne , † November 23, 1904 in Bonn ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Franz was a son of the later Prussian major general Leopold Otto von Niesewand (1793-1884) and his wife Maria Theresia Wilhelmine Franziska Josephine Hubertina, born Freiin von Negri (1811-1877). The later Prussian Lieutenant General Friedrich Wilhelm von Niesewand (1833–1916) was his younger brother.

Military career

After visiting the Rheinische Ritterakademie studied Niesewand at the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Bonn Law . In 1852 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn and later an honorary member. He started his career as an officer in the cavalry of the Prussian Army and took part in the German War in 1866 and in the war against France in 1870/71 . From July 5, 1883, Niesewand was the commander of the 1st Hessian Hussar Regiment No. 13 until August 4, 1888, with the statutory pension and authorization to wear the regimental uniform , in approval of his resignation request. He lived in Bonn and was later given the character of major general.

Niesewand was married to Marie Haberland (1849–1924). The couple had two sons:

  • Leopold Maria Josepf Hubert (* April 23, 1878; † December 12, 1914)
  • Kurt Maria Josef Hubert Albert (born September 12, 1879), Dr. jur. ⚭ 1924 Hedwig Hidding (born December 8, 1896)
