Franz Ernst Wilhelm Karl Freiherr von der Recke (born June 27, 1854 in the forester's house Glindfeld near Medebach ; † May 24, 1923 in Rudolstadt ) was Minister of State in Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

Franz von der Recke was the son of a chief forester from the von der Recke family . He studied civil engineering and law. During his studies in Hanover he became a member of the Corps Saxonia . From June 29, 1882, he worked as a trainee lawyer in the Prussian judicial service. In 1887 he switched to the private services of Prince von Wied in Neuwied as chamber director .

On April 1, 1903, he was appointed minister to Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt with the title of privy councilor and the title of excellence . Here he initially headed the internal and financial departments. From 1907 he headed the ministerial department for churches and schools instead of the interior department.

On June 1, 1909, he was also appointed Minister of State in Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . Here he was responsible for the ministerial departments of the Princely House and Foreign Affairs and the judiciary. The background to the double task was that the last prince of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen had died in 1909 and the Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt princes now ruled both principalities in personal union.

In 1918, the Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt abdicated in the November Revolution . Franz von der Recke resigned from his offices on November 13, 1918, but joined the new general ministry of the Free State of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt as a civil servant member. After the first state election in 1919, the government was reorganized. He did not stand for this election on May 23, 1919 and retired on June 4, 1919.
