Frauenkron is a district of the municipality of Dahlem in the district of Euskirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia in the North Eifel .

location

Frauenkron borders directly on Hallschlag and thus the community of Gerolstein in the neighboring state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

The place is west of Kronenburg . On the outskirts, roads 17 and 22 meet with county road 73 . In the village the Lewertbach flows into the Kyll , which has its source nearby .

history

A Cistercian convent was founded in Frauenkron as early as the 13th century . This is mentioned for the first time in 1253 and given as a donation to Steinfeld Abbey in 1289. The place name Frauenkron is only mentioned around 1649. In 1802 the monastery was sold for demolition. In 1992 there were 246 residents in the village.

Already in the 18th century was Barbara chapel built, the Saint Barbara is dedicated. In it there is a columnar altar that is worth seeing. In 1944 the chapel was completely destroyed in the course of the Second World War and rebuilt in 1952.
