Professional time

Taylor was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the ninth player in the 1998 NFL Draft . In his first season he achieved the best statistics of all rookie runningbacks of the season with 1223 yards and 17 touchdowns and thus became a star. Often plagued by injuries early in his career, he established himself as one of the best running backs in the league. Taylor is the most successful running back in Jacksonville Jaguars history and currently holds over 30 club records. In November 2007 he was the 21st running back in history to reach more than 10,000 career yards. In the all-time rankings he is in third place with 4.7 yards per attempt and in sixth place with 85.5 yards per game. In 2011, Taylor signed a one-day contract with the Jaguars to officially submit his resignation.

Honors

Fred Taylor was long considered the best running back who was never voted into the Pro Bowl . It wasn't until 2007, in his tenth year in the NFL, that he received that honor. He was nominated as a replacement for the injured Willie Parker for the Pro Bowl in February 2008. On June 7, 2012, the Jaguars announced that they intend to include Fred Taylor as the next player in the "Pride of the Jaguars", which also happened on September 30, 2012.
