Freddy Fischer & His Cosmic Rocktime Band is a German disco band. The band was formed in 1998.

Band history

Freddy Fischer (born November 21, 1968 ) grew up in Berlin-Tempelhof and was enthusiastic about German hits like Manfred Krug and Veronika Fischer as well as American soul like Isaac Hayes at a young age . He began to dance through the clubs as a DJ and served the audience there with soul, beat and hit songs.

In 1998 he finally founded the Cosmic Rocktime Band with a bassist, guitarist and drummer who, in the style of other bands such as the Ramones, have the surname "Rocktime" as their artist surname. He began to wander through the city's jazz clubs with his band and gained his first respectable successes. In 2005 he released a first demo . In 2009 the double album Tanz was released on the Hamburg independent label ( Sounds of Subterrania ). The LPs were released individually under the titles Freddy Fischer & His Cosmic Rocktime Band and Superdisco # 1 . In 2012 the second work followed three times around the sun .

In 2013, Freddy Fischer wrote the song Volle Pulle Leben for a marketing campaign for the Berlin mineral water brand Spreequell . A video was also shot for the song, which was shown in Berlin cinemas. In 2015, the band took part with the title Everything was left ....! in the qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest - our song for Austria . However, the band did not make it into the decision-making rounds.

style

Freddy Fischer & His Cosmic Rocktime Band produce a mix of funk and disco. The music is largely shaped by Fischer's Hammond organ and his Fender Rhodes , which are alienated with phaser effects . His band plays classic bass, guitar and drums. The equipment is based on the music of the 1970s and is based on the first generation of synthesizers . Image and texts are based on the disco era. Fischer also leans optically against the disco wave with his sideburns , horn-rimmed glasses and turtleneck sweaters or tuxedos with bow ties, especially James Last and Ilja Richter .
