Celia Fremlin
Celia Fremlin (pseudonym of Celia Margaret Goller ) (born June 20, 1914 in Kingsbury , † June 16, 2009 in Bournemouth ) was an English author.
life and work
Celia Fremlin was the daughter of the doctor Heaver Fremlin and his wife Margaret and the sister of the nuclear physicist John H. Fremlin (1913-1995); she attended the Berkhamsted School for Girls, Hertfordshire and Somerville College at Oxford University , where she studied classical philology and philosophy. Her first novel The Hours Before Dawn (dt. The hours before dawn) was published in 1958.
She was a member of the Society of Women Journalists, the PEN Club and the British Crime Writers' Association . Her psychological novels like Father's Stolz (1994) were published in German by Diogenes . Four novels have been translated by Isabella Nadolny , for example the new translation of The Spider Orchid (Eng. The Spider Orchid ).
Fremlin was married to Elia Goller († 1968) from 1942, with whom she had a son and two daughters. In 1985 she married Leslie Minchin († 1999).
