Friderun von Stralendorff-Eilers (born January 1, 1916 in Gamehl , Mecklenburg ; † November 14, 2011 in Preetz , Schleswig-Holstein ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Stralendorff-Eilers was originally a pianist , but due to the turmoil of the Second World War, she did not continue her profession and later found her way to the performing arts. She acquired her knowledge as a sculptor as an autodidact . It was influenced by the artists Prokofiev (Russian landscape and animal painter), Ludwig Vierthaler (Hanover sculptor), Junkers (Berlin painter), Fritz Hülsmann (painter) and the friend and critic Emil van Hauth (painter).

Friderun von Stralendorff-Eilers was married to Louis Eilers. The couple lived in Rottach-Egern , Eutin and later in Gmund am Tegernsee . The majority of her works were created here, which were then cast in Munich.

About 115 works by Friderun von Stralendorff-Eilers are known. The design goes back to the tradition of sculpture in the 19th century. Often they are portraits from nature. Von Stralendorff-Eilers used clay and plaster in particular for her work . She cast most of her sculptures in bronze using the lost wax technique. Only a few drawings and pictures are known of her. She created her works directly, only rarely using a sketch.
