Frieder Dünkel

Frieder Dünkel (born May 10, 1950 in Karlsruhe ) is a German criminal lawyer and criminologist , from 1992 until his retirement in 2015 he held the chair of criminology at the University of Greifswald as a professor .

Life

From 1969 to 1974 Dünkel studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . He passed his two state exams in 1974 and 1976; His doctorate followed in 1979 . From 1979 to 1992 he worked as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law , Criminology Research Group, with Günther Kaiser . In 1989 he finally completed his habilitation .

After a substitute professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster in 1990/91, Dünkel was a university professor and holder of the chair for criminology at the University of Greifswald from 1992 until his retirement in 2015. From 2010 to 2013 he was Vice Rector of the university with the areas of international affairs and research.

His focus is on teaching in criminology, sanctions theory, juvenile criminal law, criminal law, criminal procedure law as well as criminal policy and in empirical research in the treatment of offenders, criminal careers, prison organization and living conditions of prisoners, pre-trial detention , juvenile delinquency , juvenile intensive offenders, sanctions, implementation of reparative and educational concepts in Juvenile criminal law, alcohol and road traffic offenses .

Dünkel is President of the European Society of Criminology (ESC) until September 2016 . He is also a member of the editorial board of the Lithuanian-language legal journal Teisės problemos .

He is a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg .
