Friedrich Busch (teacher)
Friedrich Busch (born July 4, 1851 in Recklinghausen , † August 30, 1931 in Arnsberg ) was a German high school teacher and meteorologist .
family
His father Josef Friedrich Busch was a painter and drawing teacher in Recklinghausen. The mother Agnes (née Schulte) was the daughter of a farmer. He himself married Theresia Schipper in Recklinghausen in 1881. From the marriage went Fritz Busch , later Director General of the German Federal Railways and the physician Max Busch produced.
Life
Busch studied natural sciences and mathematics in Münster . He completed his probationary year in Recklinghausen. In Münster he did his military service as a one-year volunteer . There he was also an assistant teacher at the Paulinum grammar school before he switched to the Laurentianum grammar school in Arnsberg in 1880 . It was commonly called cosine by the students .
He did well in the field of meteorological optics. From 1883 he observed the Bishop's Ring and later turned to the Babinet, Arago and Brewster points.
He was a member of the civil casino Arnsberg and was involved in the founding of the Sauerland Mountain Association . He founded the first local SGV group in Arnsberg in 1890 and numerous hiking trails of the association go back to him.
From 1896 he was a member of the Arnsberg city council. He was a member of this until 1916. He then took part in the First World War as a captain . He was a magistrate from 1925 to 1929. Between 1925 and 1928 he was a member of the district council of the Arnsberg district .
The SGV made him an honorary member. The city of Arnsberg granted him honorary citizenship in 1921 , and in 1925 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Münster .
