After studying medicine, Fritz Cremer settled down as a doctor in Triefenstein- Lengfurt after the end of the Second World War . He became known through his involvement in various social projects.

For 38 years he acted as mayor and councilor of Triefenstein. In 1960 Cremer became the first mayor of the municipality of Lengfurt and, after the municipal reform, from May 1, 1978, the first mayor of the Triefenstein market. Cremer was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1966 to April 7, 1981 , and was also active in the Main-Spessart District Assembly and the Lower Franconia District Assembly for 31 years .

He was considered the Gray Eminence of the SPD in Lower Franconia and was active in local politics until he was 85. In July 2010 he was honored with the platinum badge of honor for 65 years of party membership.

Cremer died in September 2010 at the age of 91.

Agent of the State Security Service of the GDR

From 1975 to around the end of December 1978 at the latest, Cremer had intensive contacts with the Ministry for State Security . He was arrested on January 30, 1979. At least 13 times he had a “Dr.” visit in Markt Triefenstein and Munich, and later also in Stockholm. Hans Richter from Aufbau-Verlag in Berlin ”. At the end of June 1978 Cremer went to Sweden with his girlfriend and met with this "Dr. Richter" and later with an alleged colleague named "Dr. Kurt Werner ”. Both later turned out to be Markus Wolf and Werner Großmann . Photos of these meetings and of Wolf's stay in Sweden, which the BND took , were later used to allow Werner Stiller to identify Markus Wolf . A picture was launched by the BND in the news magazine Der Spiegel and made Markus Wolf known to the West German public. Cremer was listed as an unofficial employee under the code name Bäcker . Cremer was sentenced to two years and six months' imprisonment on May 16, 1980 as an enemy agent. Cremer denied all allegations or only admitted what could be proven. The court saw the importance of the contacts in the MfS as a “serious indication of the productivity of the information” from Cremer, especially with regard to his political position in the SPD. An appeal to the Federal Court of Justice and a complaint to the Federal Constitutional Court were unsuccessful.
