Fritz Gerstl

Frederick "Fritz" Gerstl (* 16th May 1923 in Außernzell ; † 21st August 2014 in Passau ) was a German SPD -Politiker and former district administrator of the district of Passau .

Life

The federal railroad official joined the SPD in 1955. Gerstl was mayor of Hals from 1955 to 1964 and district administrator of the Passau district from 1964 to 1970. From 1972 to 1987 Gerstl was a member of the German Bundestag and was active on the Defense Committee during this time .

Honors

In 1983 he received the Bavarian Order of Merit , in 1985 the Federal Cross of Merit , 1st class . In 1987 he was awarded the ring of honor and on July 19, 1993 he was given honorary citizenship of the city of Passau . He was also an honorary citizen of Passau's twin city, Scurcola Marsicana (Italy) .
