Friedrich Heimerdinger

Johann Friedrich Andreas Heimerdinger (born January 10, 1817 in Altona / Elbe , † October 3, 1882 in Hamburg ) was a German painter .

Life

After completing his university entrance qualification, Heimerdinger completed a degree in education in his hometown. Then, at the age of 22, he went to Düsseldorf to attend the local art academy . He stayed there until 1841 and was mostly a student of Professor Theodor Hildebrandt .

On the recommendation of his teacher Hildebrandt, Heimerdinger was able to study at the art academy in Munich from 1842 to 1845 . Heimerdinger concluded his time in Munich with an extensive study trip through Switzerland and returned to Hamburg at the end of 1845.

There he settled as a freelance artist and founded a school for aspiring painters and sculptors . With his ideas for a modern art class, he reformed it and had great success with it. Students were u. a. the animal painters Ludwig Beckmann and F. Rückart , the marine painter Franz Johann Wilhelm Hünten , the genre painter H. Ehrich and the sculptor Lippert . Heimerdinger was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association from 1832 .

In 1869 Heimerdinger took part in a large exhibition in the Munich Glass Palace and in the following years also some exhibitions at the Art Academy in Vienna .

The painter Friedrich Heimerdinger died on October 3, 1882 at the age of 65.

Heimerdinger became known for his still lifes and trompe l'œil paintings. In addition to his pictures, Heimerdinger also wrote a few small textbooks with which he was also able to succeed as a teacher.
