Friedrich Julius von Schwerin

Friedrich Julius von Schwerin (born June 6, 1699 - † May 11, 1747 in Neisse ) was a Prussian major general , chief of infantry regiment No. 32 , knight of the Order of St. John and the Pour le Mérite , commander of Neisse and Frankfurt an der Oder also governor of Sommerschenburg and Dreyleben in the Duchy of Magdeburg . To distinguish him from his brother, he was called the blond Schwerin .

Life

origin

Friedrich Julius came from the noble family of Schwerin and was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Philipp Julius von Schwerin (* October 7, 1662, † December 12, 1712), heir of Rehberg and Lantzerow. His mother was his second wife Esther Eleonore von Borcke (born November 16, 1673, † May 20, 1730). The later Prussian Lieutenant General Philipp Bogislav von Schwerin was his brother.

Military career

At the age of 18 Schwerin was employed in the "Schwerin" 24th Infantry Regiment and passed through the officer positions here. In addition, he became governor of Saalzig on October 24, 1739. In 1740 he was promoted to major and on May 4th of the same year King Friedrich Wilhelm I appointed him governor of Dreyleben and Sommerschenburg. On May 17, 1742 he fought as a major in the battle of Chotusitz . He fought so bravely that King Frederick II made him colonel and gave him the 32nd Infantry Regiment. In November 1745 Schwerin was appointed major general.

He died in Neisse in 1747 and was buried in Brieg .

family

Schwerin was married to Elisabeth Wilhelmine von Wulfen (born November 19, 1714). She was the daughter of the Prussian lieutenant colonel Balthasar Dettlof von Wulffen and Eva Luise von Beerfelde from the Lossow family. The couple had the following children:
