Friedrich Leopold von Heintz (born August 6, 1790 in Dresden , † February 15, 1875 in Pillnitz ) was a Saxon lieutenant general .

Life

Friedrich Leopold was the son of Major von Heintz from the “rechteu ”regiment, who died in the battle of Jena and Auerstedt . Friedrich joined this regiment as a cadet at the age of 13 . In the campaigns of 1807 and 1809 he took part as a lieutenant and distinguished himself.

At the Russian campaign of Napoleon , he took over as brigade adjutant part. Together with his brigade commander, Major General von Kregel, he went into captivity near Kobryn .

After the campaign in 1813, Heintz switched to the light infantry as prime lieutenant and remained with this unit until 1832. From then on he was commanded several times as an orderly officer to the prince co-regent. In 1838 he became the commander of the 1st Rifle Battalion and in 1840 Royal Adjutant . From 1846 he was a colonel in command of the "Maximilian" regiment. At the end of 1847, Heintz was appointed major general and brigade commander. In this function he commanded the concentrated troops near Leipzig during the uprisings in March 1848. In spring 1849, Heintz commanded the Saxon brigade in the Schleswig-Holstein war . For the excellent leadership of the troops in the battle near Düppel , he was awarded the Commander's Cross 2nd Class of the Military Order of St. Henry on August 23, 1849 .

At his own request, he resigned from military service after the end of the campaign.

In 1872 he was personally awarded the character of lieutenant general by his warlord . Von Heintz died in Pillnitz in 1875.

family

Heintz was married to Adolfine, born von Kiesenwetter († March 11, 1879). The two children Ernestine Sophie Marie (* 1834) and Anna (* 1838) emerged from the marriage.
