Friedrich Mohn

Friedrich Mohn (born January 25, 1762 in Velbert , † October 13, 1845 in Duisburg ) was a German Protestant pastor and author who worked in Ratingen and Duisburg as well as in Maastricht / Netherlands .

Life

After studying in Göttingen , Mohn became pastor of the small Lutheran parish of Ratingen in 1784. In 1803 he went to Maastricht as a preacher for the Lutheran congregation. Just one year later, in 1804, he accepted a call to the parish of the Lutheran congregation in Duisburg. Here he became superintendent in 1818 . In 1834 he celebrated his 50th anniversary in office. In 1842 he retired. Friedrich Mohn died on October 13, 1845.

In addition to smaller writings, he published two volumes of poetry in 1795 and 1798. He also published the Lower Rhine Paperback for lovers of the beautiful and the good (3 volumes, Düsseldorf 1799, 1800 and 1803). Mohn also composed a large number of sacred songs, six of which were first printed in the hymn book published by JW Reche (Mühlheim a. Rh., 1800) for the Evangelical Lutheran congregations in the Duchy of Berg .

Mohn's first marriage to Sophia Salome was born. Wagner († 1795), second marriage to Anna Maria († 1822). His son Johann Friedrich Willibald Mohn (1822–1892) became pastor in Dierdorf (Westerwald) and was the father of the publisher Johannes Mohn .
