Life

After attending the Protestant primary school in Andernach in 1938, Friedrich Schadeberg passed the Abitur at the Kurfürst-Salentin-Gymnasium in Andernach . His father Hermann Weissheimer and his brother Paul Weissheimer ran the Friedrich Weissheimer Malzfabrik in Andernach, founded by his great-grandfather Friedrich Weissheimer in 1864, and both were involved in the Siegen stock brewery.

In 1939 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and was captured by the British in Egypt in 1941 . He was taken to a prison camp in Australia , where he was instructed in law by Professor Georg Erler, who was also a prisoner of war . After six years he was released from captivity and returned to Germany in 1947, where he matriculated at the Technical University of Munich to study brewing technology in Freising . There he became a member of the student union Landsmannschaft Bavaria zu Weihenstephan .

After completing his studies with the titles of master brewer and master brewer, he worked for a year at the Schlegel brewery in Bochum as a laboratory manager, then for another year at the Rheinhausen brewery as a commercial assistant. On April 1, 1951, he became head of the sales department at the Siegener Aktienbrauerei ; since he owned the majority of the shares there, he merged this brewery with Krombacher. On February 25, 1953, he received power of attorney at the Krombacher brewery in Siegerland . He and his sister Barbara Lambrecht-Schadeberg had owned the brewery since 1961. Through him, the small village brewery developed into one of the largest German private breweries in Germany and one of the leading providers in the German beverage and brewing industry. From 1962 to 1998 he was a member of the General Assembly of the Siegen Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

In 1962 Friedrich Schadeberg married Helga Schadeberg, b. Saddles. The marriage had two children. His son Bernhard Schadeberg has taken over the management of the brewery and his daughter Petra Schadeberg-Hermann is also part of the management.

He was buried in a Christian style on December 1, 2018 in the Krombach cemetery. He was a parish member of the Evangelical Lutheran Christopherus Church Congregation of the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church (SELK). Through his initiative, the church, built in 1971, received a tower and two bells in 1996.
