Friedrich Wilhelm Leidenfrost

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Wilhelm Leidenfrost (also: Fridericus Wilhelm Leidenfrost and Fridericus Wilhelmus Leidenfrost as well as variants; also Leifenfrost or Lindenfrost ; * after 1648 presumably in Schöningen ; † July 6, 1703 in Hanover ) was a German government and chancellery secretary.

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm Leidenfrost, who was presumably born in Schöningen in the Duchy of Braunschweig-Lüneburg after the Thirty Years' War, worked as a respondent at the University of Jena in 1676 .

Leidenfrost later worked as a government secretary in Osterode am Harz . In the years from 1689 to 1697 he worked as a clerk in the city of Hanover, which was then called the royal seat of Kurhannover .

Friedrich Wilhelm Leidenfrost corresponded with the polymath Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and wrote 128 letters to Leibniz. The received correspondence with Leibniz is today part of the UNESCO world heritage .

Although Leidenfrost was evidently a member of the parish of the Hanoverian Kreuzkirche , the church book of the Marktkirche noted the date of death 6 July 1703 for the “churfürstl. Cantzleysecretarius ". The burial was then apparently carried out on July 13th of that year in the churchyard of the Aegidienkirche .
