Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich von Pelet (born April 24, 1745 on Glaubitten ( Rastenburg district ); † January 11, 1820 on his Goddentow estate) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Karl was a member of the Prussian noble family von Pelet . He was the son of the heir to Glaubitten, Eichenau and Plaschen, Peter Wilhelm von Pelet (1707–1777) and his wife Anna Charlotte, née von Bülow (1712–1792). Anna Charlotte von Pelet was the sister of General Christoph Carl von Bülow and General Johann Albrecht von Bülow. Major General Karl Gerhard von Pelet was his brother.

Military career

Pelet had initially enrolled on April 22, 1757 as a student in Königsberg . But he then went to the Prussian Army , where he was employed on March 1, 1762 as a flag junior in the dragoons regiment "von Bayreuth" . The Seven Years' War was almost over, but he still fought in the battles near Ratiborgitz in Bohemia, the capture of Jägerndorf and the siege of Schweidnitz . At that time he became an ensign on June 3, 1762 .

On May 28, 1763 Pelet was second lieutenant and on September 26, 1766 adjutant general to General von Bülow . On May 1, 1771, he left the regiment, but remained an adjutant . On June 11, 1773, he was made captain of the staff and adjutant of the inspection. As such, he also took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On January 30, 1783 he was appointed captain and squadron chief of the regiment. He rose further and was on June 3, 1785 major and on June 4, 1792 lieutenant colonel and commander of the regiment. During the First Coalition War he fought in the cannonade of Valmy , in the battle of Kaiserslautern as well as the skirmishes near Frankenthal, Hochheim, Türkheim and the sieges of Verdun and Landau. For this he received the order Pour le Mérite on October 23, 1792 in the Aubange camp . On April 1, 1793 he received a bonus of 1200 thalers because his regiment had captured three cannons and two flags.

On January 19, 1794 he was promoted to colonel and on May 20, 1800 to major general with a patent from May 28, 1801. On May 11, 1803 he was appointed 2nd chief of the Dragoon Regiment "von Pfalz-Zweibrücken" . In the Fourth Coalition War he became leader of the cavalry in Weimar's corps. After the battle near Lüneburg he was taken prisoner of war and on August 10, 1807 he was put on half pay. On January 15, 1812, he received notification that a pension could not be granted. He died impoverished on January 11, 1820 on his Goddentow estate.

He was married several times. His first wife was Friederike Wilhelmine Henriette von Wedel (born September 26, 1764, † May 26, 1831) from the Malchow family in 1783 . The marriage was divorced on November 30, 1797. The couple had several children:

On January 5, 1798, Pelet married in Pasewalk Karoline Philippine Auguste von Wedel (* January 5, 1774, † June 5, 1840), the sister of his first wife. The couple had the following children:
