Karl Gerhard von Pelet (born August 7, 1742 in Glaubitten , in the Rastenburg district ; † August 28, 1823 in Grunau , in the Flatow district ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

family

Karl was a member of the Prussian noble family von Pelet . He was a son of the heir to Glaubitten, Eichenau and Plaschen, Peter Wilhelm von Pelet (1707–1777), and Anna Charlotte von Bülow (1712–1792). Major General Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich von Pelet (1745-1820) was his brother. He himself remained unmarried and died childless.

Career

Pelet studied at the University of Königsberg in 1757 and then joined the Prussian Army Dragoon Regiment No. 5 as a flag junior in 1760 . With this he took part in the Seven Years' War , in particular the siege of Schwednitz and the battle near Reichenbach . In 1762 he became ensign in Fusilier Regiment No. 46 , advanced to secondary lieutenant in 1765 , prime lieutenant in 1770 and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . In 1782 Pelet was promoted to staff captain, then rose to real captain and company commander in 1785 . With the transfer to the Fusilier Battalion No. 16 in 1789, he was promoted to major . In December 1791, Pelet became a knight of the order Pour le Mérite for a concept he developed and implemented to combat robbers in the Tuchel Heath . In 1794 he became chief of the Fusilier Battalion No. 14 and advanced to lieutenant colonel in the same year . Also in 1794 he received permission to wear the order cross of the cathedral monastery of Havelberg . Pelet took part in the Kościuszko uprising and was wounded outside Warsaw . He became his promotion to colonel took place in 1796. The following year, commercials into Switzerland sent. Subsequently, in 1797, Pelet became a brigadier of the Lower Silesian Fusilier Brigade. Finally in 1801 he was promoted to major general. He still took part in the Fourth Coalition and had been inactive since October 29, 1806.
