Dąb ( German  Eichenau ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Dąb is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 21 kilometers northwest of the town of Korsze ( German  Korschen ).

history

Eichenau one was until 1945 Vorwerk and dwelling place of believers activities ( Polish Głowbity ) in the county Rastenburg in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia . As a result of the war, the place came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia . Today's settlement ( Polish Osada ) with the Polish name form "Dąb" is now a place within the urban and rural community of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Eichenau belonged to the Sprengel Langheim ( Polish Łankiejmy ) of the Protestant parish Langheim-Gudnick in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and to the Catholic parish Rößel (Polish Reszel ) in the Diocese of Warmia . Today, on the Catholic side, Dąb is still incorporated into Reszel , which is now part of the Archdiocese of Warmia . The Protestant residents orientate themselves towards the parish Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) with the branch churches Barciany (Barten) and Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Dąb can be reached by land from Giełpsz (Gelbsch) , Słępy (Schlömpen) and Głowbity (Glaubitten) . Until 2002, Głowbity was the next station on the Głomno – Białystok railway line , which is now only served from Korsze .
