Pomnik ( German  Pomnick ) is a village in Poland in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the urban and rural municipality Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Pomnik is located in northern Poland, about 15 kilometers south of the state border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast . About one kilometer north of the village are Wilkowo Wielkie (Groß Wolfsdorf) and Drogosze (Dönhofstädt) , two kilometers south of Parys (Paaris) . The river Guber runs through the village .

history

Pomnik was in 1370 after Kulm law established . The associated area was six hooves , on which there were already two water mills at the localization . From the 16th century, the Dönhoffs became the owners of the village.

In 1785 there were five fireplaces near nine houses and a water mill in the "aristocratic village". In 1817, Pomnik was a Vorwerk with eight houses in which 89 people lived. It belonged to the estate district Dönhofstädt (Polish Drogosze ).

In January 1945, at the end of World War II , the Red Army took the area. As a result of the war, Pomnik became part of Poland. In 1945 the water mill on the Guber River was repaired by the Samopomoc chłopska (rural self-help) cooperative . In 1973 the village and the cooperative became part of the Schulzenamt Parys. 1970 lived in Pomnik 107 people in 2011 were it 92. The village is home to a Schulz Office (Polish Sołectwo ) and a location in the network of urban and rural community Korsze (Korschen ) in kętrzyn county (county Rastenburg ) until 1998der Province Olsztyn , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Pomnick was parish up until 1945 in the Evangelical Church of Groß Wolfsdorf ( Polish: Wilkowo Wielkie ) in the church province of East Prussia, part of the Church of the Old Prussian Union, and in the Catholic Church of Korschen (in Polish: Korsze ) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Pomnik belongs to the parish Drogosze (Dönhofstädt) in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , on the Protestant side to the parish Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) with the branch church in Barciany (Barten) within the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

The Eastern Green Velo Cycle Route ( Polish: Wschodni Szlak Rowerowy Green Velo ) has been running through Pomnik since 2015, connecting the Sępopol (Schippenbeil) , Korsze (Korschen) and Barciany (Barten) regions . Over a length of 2071 kilometers, it runs through five Polish voivodeships and as many national parks .
