Równina Dolna ( German  Adlig Unter Plehnen , also: Unter Plehnen ) is a village in Poland in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is located in the powiat Kętrzyński and belongs to the urban and rural municipality of Korsze ( Korschen ).

Geographical location

Równina Dolna is located in northern Poland on the left bank of the Guber , 700 meters west of the Równina Górna estate ( German  nobleman Ober Plehnen ). The state border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast runs around 17 kilometers north of the town .

history

The place was localized in the 14th century with an area of 27 hooves . The village was comparatively wealthy, which can be seen in the high taxes that the residents had to pay. The residents had to deliver 42.5 bushels of rye, wheat and barley and 57 bushels of oats annually . In 1422 three taverns and a mill were mentioned. In 1493, a church dedicated to St. Lawrence was built in the settlement . From 1525 it was used as a Protestant parish church. In the 18th century, the place had expanded on both sides of the Guber, so the separation into Ober- and Unter Plehnen took place.

On April 30, 1874, the manor district Unter Plehnen became part of the newly formed district of Paaris ( Parys in Polish ). On September 30, 1928, the manor districts of Sdunkeim ( Saduny ), Adlig Ober Plehnen ( Równina Górna ) and Adlig Unter Plehnen merged to form the new rural community of Plehnen , which was reclassified on May 23, 1929 from the Paaris district to the Dönhofstädt district .

In 1945, at the end of World War II , the Red Army marched into the area. As a result of the war, the village became part of Poland and it was renamed "Równina Dolna". A state agricultural company ( Państwowe Gospodarstwo Rolne ) was established.

From 1966 to 1957 archaeological excavations took place near Równina Dolna, during which a burial ground was discovered, which probably dates from the 14th century. Among other things, 68 medieval graves were discovered. In 1973 the village became part of the Schulzenamt ( Sołectwo ) Saduny (Sdunkeim) in the parish of Korsze.

Population numbers

In 1820 there were 99 people in the village, in 1910 there were 106 and in 1928 around 100. In 1970 there were 80 inhabitants. Last year, 71 residents were registered.

church

A chapel is said to have been built here in 1493, which was used as a Protestant parish church from 1525. This information is not documented. Until 1945 Adlig Unter Plehnen was parish in the Evangelical Church of Lamgarben ( Garbno in Polish ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Korschen in the Diocese of Warmia .

Równina Dolna now belongs to the Catholic parish Garbno (Lamgarben) in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Protestant parish church Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
