Wetyn ( German Wettin ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).
Geographical location
Wetyn is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 26 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ) and eight kilometers northwest of the town of Korsze (Korschen) .
history
The present-day hamlet ( Przysiółek in Polish ), then called Wettin , was founded on June 21, 1822 as a Vorwerk. Until 1945 the place was a residential area within the municipality of Prassen ( Polish: Prosna ) in the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia .
With all of southern East Prussia , Wettin was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and was given the Polish form of the name “Wetyn”. Today the place is attached to the neighboring village Kałwągi (Kaltwangen) and thus a place within the urban and rural municipality of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .
church
Until 1945 Wettin was parish in the Protestant Church of Leunenburg (Polish Sątoczno ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , as well as in the Catholic Church Sturmhübel (Polish Grzęda ) in the Diocese of Warmia .
Today Wetyn belongs on the Protestant side to the parish of Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) with its branch churches in Barciany (Barten) and Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland , and on the Catholic side to the parish of Sątoczno (Leunenburg) in the Archdiocese of Warmia .
traffic
Wetyn is on a side road that connects Prosna (Prassen) with Kałwągi (Kaltwangen) . There is no train connection.
