Podgórzyn ( German  Friedrichsthal ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural community of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Podgórzyn is located on the west bank of the Guber , eleven kilometers northwest of the Powiat capital Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) and seven kilometers southeast of the town of Korsze (Korschen) .

history

The small village called Friedrichsthal until 1945 was founded on January 23, 1854. In the "Official Gazette of the Royal Prussian Government zu Königsberg 1854, No. 5, Ordinance No. 26 “it says: The name Friedrichsthal has been added to the newly built establishment on the Feldmark of the village of Godocken, Rastenburg district, without changing anything in the previous municipal, police and other circumstances . The place, basically consisting of only one large courtyard, was part of the mother community of Godocken (now Gudziki in Polish ) as a living space . Thus it was in the District from 1874 to 1945 Lamgarben (Garbno) in the district Rastenburg in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia incorporated. In 1905 Friedrichsthal had 18 inhabitants.

Since 1945 Friedrichsthal with the Polish form of the name "Podgórzyn" belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship (1975 to 1998 Olsztyn Voivodeship ) in Poland . The place is now part of the urban and rural community of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Podgórzyn can be reached via a side road that connects Tołkiny (Tolksdorf) on Voivodeship Road 592 (former German Reichsstraße 135 ) with Gudziki (Godocken) and continues to Warnikajmy (Warnikeim) .

The Korsze station provides a connection to the railway lines to Ełk – Białystok and Olsztyn – Toruń – Posen .
