Wiklewo ( German  Groß Winkeldorf ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Wiklewo is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 18 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The year the small village and Vorwerk Winkeldorf was founded is not known. In 1785 it is called "a noble village with 19 fireplaces", which belonged to the Glittehnen ( Polish: Glitajny ) and Karschau ( Karszewo ) estates .

In 1874 the two were Gutsbezirke Winkelsdorf-Glittehnen and Winkelsdorf-Karschau in the newly built office district Dönhofstädt ( Polish Drogosze ) incorporated, which the county Rastenburg in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. Between 1881 and 1883 the two districts of Winkeldorf-Glittehnen and Winkeldorf-Karschau merged to form the new rural community of Groß Winkeldorf. On May 23, 1929, this rural community was reclassified to the district of Paaris ( Parys in Polish ).

With all of southern East Prussia , Groß Winkeldorf was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and was given the Polish form of name “Wiklewo”. Today the village is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and as such a place in the network of the urban and rural municipality Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
