Piaskowiec ( German  Sandenberg ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Piaskowiec is located on the north-western city limits of Korsze (Korschen) in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 20 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) .

history

Until 1945, the Vorwerk Sandenberg was incorporated into the municipality of Korschen (in Polish: Korsze ). It thus belonged to the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

With the whole of southern East Prussia , Sandenberg was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and was given the Polish form of name "Piaskowiec". Today it is part of the municipality of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Sandeberg was parish in the Protestant Church of Korschen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church in Korschen in what was then the diocese of Warmia .

Today Piaskowiec still belongs to Korsze on the Catholic side, which is now assigned to the Archdiocese of Warmia . The evangelical residents orientate themselves towards the parish in Kętrzyn in the diocese Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Piaskowiec is located on a side road that connects Giełpsz (Gelbsch) with the town of Korsze . There is also a direct road from Voivodship Road 590 to Piaskowiec.

The nearest train station is Korsze. Today it is the end point of two railway lines from Białystok and Toruń .
