Nunkajmy ( German  Nohnkeim ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Nunkajmy is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , two kilometers west of the town of Korsze ( German  Korschen ) and 20 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) .

history

The village, which today belongs to Piaskowiec (Sandenberg), was a residential area in the municipality of Glaubitten ( Polish : Głowbity ) until 1945 . The former Vorwerk was known before 1414 Nonekaim before 1820 Nonkeim . Until 1945 the place belonged to the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

With all of southern East Prussia , Nohnkeim came to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and was given the Polish form of the name “Nunkajmy”. Integrated in Piaskowiec , Nunkamjmy is now a village within the urban and rural municipality of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Nohnkeim was parish in the Protestant Church of Korschen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Sturmhübel ( Polish: Grzęda ) in what was then the Diocese of Warmia . Today Nunkajmy belongs on the Catholic side to the parish in Korsze in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , on the Protestant side to the Kętrzyn parish in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Nunkajmy is located on a subordinate side road that leads from Piaskowiec (Sandenberg) to Głowbity (Glaubitten) . For a long time after 1945, Głowbity was also the next station on the Białystok – Głomno railway line , which ends in Korsze today .
