Kowalewo Małe ( German Wotterkeim , Dorf ) is a small place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).
Geographical location
Kowalewo Małe is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 23 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ).
history
The rural community Wotterkeim was in the newly built 1,874 District Langheim ( Polish Łankiejmy incorporated) and thus belonged to the county Rastenburg in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 Wotterkeim had 44 inhabitants.
On September 30, 1928, the rural community Wotterkeim expanded to include the Wotterkeim Vorwerk (now in Polish: Kowalewo Duże ), which was incorporated. On April 1, 1931, the two rural communities Langheim (Polish Łankiejmy ) and Wotterkeim merged to form the new rural community Langheim.
In 1945, as a result of the war, all of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland . Wotterkeim was also affected as a place to live in the Langheim community and was given the Polish name “Kowalewo Małe”. Today the hamlet ( Przysiółek in Polish ) is integrated as "Wieś Kowalewo Duże" in the neighboring village of Kowalewo Duże ( German Vorwerk Wotterkeim ) and belongs to the urban and rural community of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then assigned to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
church
Until 1945 the village Wotterkeim belonged to the Evangelical Church Langheim ( Polish Łankiejmy ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and to the Catholic parish Korschen (Polish Korsze ) in the Diocese of Warmia .
Today Kowalewo Małe is parish in the Protestant Johanneskirche Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) with the branch church Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and in the St. John the Baptist Church Łankiejmy in the current Archdiocese of Warmia .
traffic
Kowalewo Małe is located on the lively east-west voivodship road 592 on the route of the former German Reichsstrasse 135 , which runs from Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) to Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) and Giżycko (Lötzen) . In Kowalewo Małe, a side road coming from the north from Sajna Wielka (closet home) also ends.
There is no connection to rail traffic .
