Stawnica ( German Oberteich ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).
Geographical location
Stawnica is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 24 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ) and eight kilometers northwest of the town of Korsze (Korschen) .
history
The former Oberteich originally consisted of a few small farms. In 1874, the rural community is Upper Pond in the newly built office district riotous ( Polish Prosna incorporated) that the county Rastenburg in the administrative district of Kaliningrad in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. Oberteich had 104 inhabitants in 1910.
On September 30, 1928, Oberteich lost its independence when the rural community merged with the manor districts of Prassen ( Polish: Prosna ), Döhrings ( Suliki ) and Błuskajmy Małe ( Klein Bloßkeim ) to form the new rural community of Prassen.
As a result of the war, Oberteich came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of the name “Stawnica”. Today the village is part of the municipality of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Oberteich was parish in the Protestant Church of Leunenburg ( Polish: Sątoczno ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Sturmhübel in the Diocese of Warmia .
Today Stawnica belongs on the catholic side to the parish of Sątoczno in what is now the Archdiocese of Warmia , on the Protestant side to the parish Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) with the branch churches Barciany (Barten) and Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

Stawnica is located on a side road that leads from Sątoczno (Leunenburg) directly into town. There is no connection to rail traffic .
