Łękajny ( German  Landkeim ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural community Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Łękajny is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 25 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

Today's hamlet ( Przysiółek in Polish ) Łękajny was founded in 1368 as a Landkeim (sometimes also Landtkeim ) and was a large Vorwerk of the manor district and the later rural community of Prassen ( Prosna in Polish ) until 1945 .

With the whole of southern East Prussia , Landkeim came to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and received the Polish form of the name "Łękajny". Today the small place is closely connected with Sątoczno ( German  Leunenburg ) and thus part of the urban and rural community of Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Landkeim was parish in the Protestant Church of Leunenburg ( Polish: Sątoczno ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Sturmhübel (Polish: Grzęda ) in the Diocese of Warmia . Today, on the Catholic side, Łękajny belongs to the parish of Sątoczno (Leunenburg) in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , on the Protestant side to the parish Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) with the branch churches Barciany (Barten) and Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

traffic

Łękajny is on a side road that connects Marłuty (Marlutten) with Bykowo (Bollendorf) . There is no connection to rail traffic .
