Sajna Wielka ( German  large cabinet home , 1928 to 1945 cabinet home ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Korsze ( urban and rural municipality Korschen ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Sajna Wielka is located in the northern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship on the west side of the Zaine river ( Sajna in Polish ), 23 kilometers northwest of the district town of Kętrzyn ( Rastenburg in German ).  

history

Large closet home was founded before 1410. The small community came in 1874 to the newly established administrative district Glaubitten ( Polish : Głowbity ) in the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910, there were 64 residents in Groß cabinet home.

On September 30, 1928, the rural community of Groß closet home merged with the manor districts of Klein closet home ( Sajna Mała in Polish ) and Wormen ( Studzieniec in Polish ) to form the new commune of closet home. The number of inhabitants reached 286 in 1933 and rose to 321 by 1939.

When all of southern East Prussia was surrendered to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , the community of Wardrobe Home was also affected. The place received the Polish name form "Sajna Wielka" and is now a place in the network of the urban and rural community Korsze (Korschen) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship belongs. Sajna Wielka had a total of 64 inhabitants in 2011.

Until 1945, large closet home resp. Cabinet home in the Protestant Church of Leunenburg ( Polish: Sątoczno ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Sturmhübel (Polish: Grzęda ) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Sajna Wielka belongs to the parish of Sątoczno in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and on the Protestant side to the parish Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) with the subsidiary churches Barciany (Barten) and Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Sajna Wielka can be reached on a side road that leads here from Dłużec Wielki (Groß Langwalde) via Sajna Mała (Small Cabinet Home) . Until the end of passenger traffic on the Głomno – Białystok railway line in 2002, Studzieniec (Wormen) was the next station. Passenger transport now only takes place from and to Korsze (Korschen) .
