Friedrich von Hermann
Friedrich Benedikt Wilhelm von Hermann (born December 5, 1795 in Dinkelsbühl , † November 23, 1868 in Munich ) was a national economist and is considered the founder of economic statistical science.
Life
Von Hermann studied and obtained his doctorate in Erlangen . In 1823 he completed his habilitation as a lecturer in camera science. From 1827 he worked in Munich, first as a professor at the Polytechnic School, then from 1833 as a full professor of political science at the Munich University .
His life was shaped by his commitment to the implementation and application of science and above all to the technical school system. His main works are the State Economic Studies of Wealth, Economy, Income and Consumption , published in 1832 . Because of this work he was appointed full professor. Today von Hermann is considered to be one of the founders of the subjective theory of values in economics.
He is also one of the most important political advisers to the Bavarian kings from Max I to Ludwig II ; especially under Maximilian II. (1848–1864) he had a major influence on the economic policy of Bavaria; Worth mentioning is his contribution to the development of the savings bank system in Bavaria .
Von Hermann became a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences in 1835 . In 1848/49 he was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly . In 1853 he received the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art . In 1855 Hermann was appointed to the State Council. On January 24, 1861, he was accepted into the Prussian order Pour le Mérite for science and the arts.
