history

The company was founded in 1943 under the name Cisac in Cressier in Neuchâtel and initially produced flakes for food. In 1961 the production of food from potatoes started; Knorr launched Stocki, an instant mashed potato , which Frigemo still produces today. With a stake of 50% each, VOLG and VLG Bern founded FRIGEMO AG in 1974, based in Zollikofen , and frozen vegetables and pasta were added.

Through the merger of agricultural cooperative associations, Fenaco was created at the end of 1993, under whose umbrella the company, now trading under the name Frigemo , was newly incorporated with its headquarters in Bern. From the second half of the 1990s, various food retailers and, in 2003, EiCO, one of the largest egg retailers in Switzerland, were taken over. In addition, in 2000 the company acquired the McCain brand license for all of Switzerland.

On January 1, 2019, Culturefood (CFD SA) based in Freiburg and Berger SA based in Marly were taken over.
