Frits Vrijlandt
Frits Vrijlandt (born July 21, 1967 in Warnsveld ) is a Dutch mountaineer . On May 17, 2000, he was the first Dutchman to reach the summit of Mount Everest via the north ridge . On January 4, 2003, he stood on Mount Vinson , the highest mountain in Antarctica , and completed his ascent to the Seven Summits . He is the first Dutchman to have reached all seven peaks on the first attempt. Today he gives lectures and motivational speeches.
biography
Frits Vrijlandt studied engineering at the Technical University of Delft . He has been active in Dutch climbing and mountaineering since 1988: as the editor of the newspaper (1988–1991), as a board member (1990–1992), as a member of the Alpine board (1992–1995) and as an alpine instructor in summer and winter. From 2006 to 2012 he was President of the Royal Dutch Climbing and Mountaineering Association (NKBV). Since 2012 he has been chairman of the international climbing and mountaineering association Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA).
