Alan Blackshaw OBE ( 7. April 1933 in Liverpool - 4. August 2011 ) was a British mountain climbers , skiers and officials, the 2001-2004 president of the Alpine Club and from 1997 to 2003, President of the British Ski Club (Ski Club of Great Britain) was.

Early life

Blackshaw was born in Liverpool in 1933 and studied modern history at Merchant Taylors School from 1944 to 1951 and at Wadham College , Oxford (as an Open Scholar) from 1951 to 1954 .

Mountaineers and skiers

In the 1950s he went mountaineering in the Alps and climbed the northeast face of Piz Badile , the north face of Aiguille de Triolet and the south face of Pointe Gugliermina. Expeditions outside of Europe include the Caucasus , Greenland and Garhwal ( Himalayas ).

In 1972 he crossed the Alps from Kaprun to Gap , and between 1973 and 1978 also Scandinavia on skis from Lakselv to Adneram.

In 1965 he published the manual Mountaineering - From Hill Walking to Alpine Climbing .
